The Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA), in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), successfully hosted a “National Workshop on Expression and Evaluation of Measurement Uncertainties in Internal and External Dosimetry” from October 14-18, 2024, at the PNRA Headquarters, Islamabad.
The workshop aimed to enhance the measurement accuracy of radiation dosimetry service providers, ensuring improved safety standards for occupational workers, the general public, and the environment. IAEA experts, Mr. Panagiotis Askounis and Mr. Oliver Meisenberg, served as resource persons.
Mr. Naveed Maqbul Member (Corporate), PNRA, inaugurated the workshop. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the importance of accurate radiation monitoring for effective radiation protection. He also outlined the infrastructure developed by PNRA to support radiation dosimetry, underscoring the organization's commitment to maintaining high standards of radiation safety.
The workshop gathered participants from diverse backgrounds, including technical service providers, operators, and regulators. Through a combination of oral presentations, interactive sessions, and practical exercises, attendees gained valuable insights into the intricacies of dosimetry and the importance of precise measurement and reporting.
