Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) hosted an “International School of Nuclear and Radiological Leadership for Safety” conducted by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts from 10-14 June, 2024 at Islamabad to elaborate the concept of leadership for safety.
Mr. Faizan Mansoor, Chairman PNRA welcomed the distinguished guests in an opening ceremony and emphasized that the school is playing a crucial role to cultivate leadership for safety and fostering a robust safety culture by capacity building of early to mid-career professionals. He further mentioned that this initiative not only supports our individual growth but also contributes significantly to global safety efforts.
Dr. Mallick, Director IAEA and team lead, highlighted the objectives and importance of this activity. He elaborated the agenda of the school and particularly emphasized the importance of leadership for safety in nuclear and radiation industry.
The school was attended by participants having a diverse range of experience from medical radiation facilities, design organizations, manufacturers, operators of nuclear installations and regulators. The participants of the workshop learned the theoretical and practical aspects on how to build and work on developing leadership skills for ensuring nuclear and radiological safety. This school will enable these officials to have a better and insightful understanding of their role for demonstrating leadership for safety and fostering a robust safety culture.
