PNRA Holds National Workshop on “National Radiation Emergency Plan” in Lahore on 22nd August, 2025

Lahore: A two-day national workshop on “National Radiation Emergency Plan (NREP)” for Radiation Emergencies was held at the Punjab Emergency Services Academy, Rescue 1122 that brought together experts, stakeholders, and practitioners from across the country. The event, was organized on 18-19 Aug, 2025 by Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) in collaboration with Punjab Emergency Service Department. The objective of the event was to gauge and enhance national resilience and preparedness in case of a potential radiation emergency.

The workshop was attended by a diverse range of professionals, including disaster management authorities, district management authorities, medical professionals, government representatives, and first responders.

The workshop aimed to create awareness and strengthen coordination between the relevant stakeholders in area of radiation emergency preparedness and response as per the NREP. The said workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Zia Hussain Shah, Member (Executive), PNRA on 18th Aug, 2025.

Mr. Zia expressed his gratitude to all participants, experts, and organizers for their enthusiastic engagement and said that the workshop represents a significant milestone in our collective efforts to ensure the safe future of our nation. The knowledge and experience to be shared during the workshop will contribute to strengthening the country’s capacity to effectively address potential radiation emergencies. He further emphasized that PNRA is committed to equip communities and authorities with the knowledge and expertise required to effectively respond to radiation emergencies in Pakistan.
