The Information Services Directorate (ISD) is a part of the newly created Technical Support Organization (TSO) within the corporate wing. It is responsible for maintaining computer networks, telephone exchanges, PNRA Library, issuance of advertisements for public education, issuance of press releases on important matters and occasions and interaction with the media.
Separate Local Area Networks (LANs) have been established at the Headquarters Building, Corporate Office at Islamabad and at RNSD-III, Karachi. More than 100 computers are connected with these networks. File servers have been installed at the Headquarters and Corporate Office. Network printing facilities have also been provided to all the officers and staff. Internet Servers have also been setup at the Headquarters, Corporate Office and RNSD-III. These servers are connected with the Internet Service Provider (ISP) through 128 Kbps ISDN lines. Internet services have been provided to all the officers at these offices.
Mail servers have been setup at the Headquarters, Corporate Office and RNSD-III. These mail servers are connected with the ISP through normal dial-up. Corporate mail facilities have been provided to all the officers and staff.
Development and maintenance of PNRA website is also the responsibility of ISD. The web page address is www.pnra.org.
ISD also maintains a website for use by officers and staff of PNRA within the Headquarters and Corporate Office. Various technical and legal documents are placed on this website so that these documents are readily available at all time.
ISD is also involved in the procurement of computers and printers for the officers and staff. Every effort is made to provide computers to the officers immediately on their joining PNRA. Maintenance of all the computers and printers present at Headquarters and Corporate Office is the responsibility of ISD.
Telephone exchanges have been installed at the PNRA Headquarters and Corporate Office. These exchanges are of 20 x 100 lines capacity. All the officers and staff have been provided telephone extensions. These exchanges are being operated and maintained by ISD.
A number of journals and newspapers are subscribed by the PNRA Library. The officers are encouraged to provide lists of books of their professional interest for addition in the library.
Advertisements for public education are published in the leading newspapers are national level. These advertisements are designed by ISD. Issuance of press releases on important occasions is another responsibility of ISD. A number of press releases have so far been issued.
ISD also provides support in organizing different workshops and meetings at PNRA.
